The Missouri Department of Conservation is welcoming a newly appointed conservation agent for Mercer County. Dakota Sweeney hails from Carrollton in Carroll County.
He brings a wealth of experience and a deep love for the outdoors to his new role.
With a background as a wildlife technician and crew leader in Livingston and Vernon counties, Sweeney is well-versed in MDC operations and the rural Missouri landscape.
Sweeney recently completed the rigorous training at MDC’s Conservation Agent Training Academy in Jefferson City.
The comprehensive training covered criminal investigations, defensive tactics, firearms qualifications, and technical aspects of fish, forest, and wildlife management.
It also included legal studies, communications, education program conduct, and First Aid---First Responder and CPR certification.
With a lifelong passion for the outdoors, Sweeney grew up on a farm and enjoys hunting, fishing, trapping, and exploring nature.
