JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri's non-farm payroll employment saw a rise of 5,600 jobs last month, with a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate ticking up by one-tenth of a percentage point.
Private industry employment grew by 4,200 jobs, while government employment increased by 1,400 jobs. The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate reached 3.3%, up from 3.2% in November 2023.
Over the year, Missouri added 48,100 jobs from December 2022 to December 2023, causing the unemployment rate to increase by six-tenths of a percentage point.
The labor force participation rate was 63.3%, and the state's unemployment rate remained at or below the national rate for over eight years.
