Rainbow trout fishing rules change in St. Joseph

winter fishing

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Starting today, Missouri anglers with the right permits can finally keep the rainbow trout they've been catching.

This changes into effect at Krug Park Lagoon and Everyday Pond in St. Joseph. The Missouri Department of Conservation had stocked these waters last fall, providing a unique winter fishing opportunity.

Initially on a catch-and-release basis, anglers can now bring a stringer to take home up to four tasty trout daily. Remember, scented lures, natural baits, and unscented artificial lures are fair game.

Make sure you have the right permits and follow regulations for a successful fishing experience. For more details, contact MDC’s St. Joseph office at 816-271-3100.
