Riff Generation headlines NW Jazz Festival

NW Jazz Festival

The Northwest Missouri State University campus will come alive this week with the smooth sounds of jazz music.

You can catch the Studio Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble concert tonight at 7:00 p.m in the Charles Johnson Theater at the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building. Led by Doctor William Richardson, the ensembles will perform jazz standards and modern pieces.

This Friday, Northwest hosts the Jazz Festival. Twenty-five middle school and high school ensembles from Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri will grace the campus with their performances. The festival kicks off at 8:50 a.m. and runs all day, with performances in the Charles Johnson Theater and the Mary Linn Auditorium at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.

The headline act will be Riff Generation, a combo from the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra. They will take the stage at 5:00 p.m. Admission to all performances is free.
