Statewide walleye challenge happening in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is teaming up with MyCatch by Angler's Atlas to host a statewide walleye fishing challenge from March 30 to June 30.

The Midwest Walleye Challenge extends across multiple states in the region, inviting anglers to participate by capturing a photo of their catch using the MyCatch mobile app to document the fish's length.

Once anglers submit their catch via the app, it undergoes review by the catch team to ensure compliance with the rules. The longest fish and the most fished waterbodies will be showcased on a live leaderboard.

To respect anglers' privacy, the mobile app maintains anonymous location data, keeping secret spots undisclosed on public leaderboards.

Additionally, Iowa DNR biologists receive only generalized lake and river catch data to aid in managing walleye populations.

To register for the Midwest Walleye Challenge, Iowa anglers can visit anglers-atlas.com/event/767.
