CLARINDA, Iowa - The Lied Public Library in Clarinda is hosting a captivating program next week.
"Bet the Farm with Beth Hoffman," taking place on Monday at 6:30 p.m., chronicles Hoffman's journey from a journalist and professor in San Francisco to a farmer in Iowa.
In her late 40s, she and her husband embarked on a bold adventure, leaving city life behind to pursue farming. But they encountered a significant hurdle, along with the staggering realities of modern agriculture.
"Bet the Farm" is Hoffman's firsthand account of the challenges and aspirations of contemporary farming, exploring avenues for a more just and sustainable food production system.
