JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is calling on residents to join in celebrating Arbor Days in April by planting native trees and practicing proper tree care techniques.
Missouri Arbor Day falls on April 5, with National Arbor Day follows on April 26.
To support tree care efforts, the MDC offers valuable resources on backyard tree care, covering topics such as tree selection, planting guidance, watering, and pruning tips.
For those interested in obtaining native tree and shrub seedlings, the M-D-C George O White State Forest Nursery near Licking provides a range of low-cost options suitable for reforestation, erosion control, and wildlife habitats.
Orders are open until April 15. Additionally, communities across the state organize local Arbor Day activities, contributing to statewide efforts in tree planting and conservation.
Information on all of this is available at mdc.mo.gov/seedlings.
