Missourians asked to weigh in on proposed Foreign Owned Ag Land Rule

Missouri residents now have the opportunity to voice their opinions on the proposed Foreign Owned Ag Land Rule.

This emergency amendment, prompted by the implementation of Executive Order 2401, aims to establish stringent requirements for foreign-owned agricultural land in the state. The amendment mandates the approval of foreign acquisitions of agricultural land by the Director of the Department of Agriculture. Potential owners who are citizens, residents, or incorporated under the laws of foreign adversaries face denial of agricultural land acquisition if the land falls within ten miles of certain military facilities or acquisitions.

The primary goal is to fortify the state's security interests, particularly concerning military installations. The emergency amendment is set to expire on July 21st. Residents can review the proposed amendment in the Missouri Register and submit their comments at agriculture.mo.gov.
