"Motherly Love" sculpture wins St. Joe Sculpture Walk award

The Allied Arts Council of St. Joseph have determined the winner of the 2023-24 St. Joseph Sculpture Walk People's Choice Award.

Born in Zimbabwe, artist Gedion Nyanhongo of Ohio sculpted the work "Motherly Love" which can be found on the corner of Edmond Street and North 7th Street. Made from stone, the personification artist wanted to give his work human characteristics to spark emotion.

The stone sculpture may be purchased and it is possible to own other sculptures from the 2023-24 Walk. Additionally, the sculptures around downtown will be deinstalled during May. For purchasing information on the piece "Motherly Love," you can contact the Aliied Arts Council by calling 816-233-0231, or stopping by their office in Saint Joseph.
