ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Rolling Hills Library in St. Joseph has announced that plans for a new state-of-the-art facility are officially underway. After an extensive search spanning over a year, a prime location has been secured.
The site is in the new development where the University of Missouri-Kansas City also plans to build a School of Medicine facility at the east end of Faraon Street, across from Mosaic Life Care.
The ambitious project will see the construction of a 36,000-square-foot building, accommodating not only the library but also the Bookmobile office, Administration Office, and the beloved Friends of the Library's used bookstore, Books Revisited.
With an estimated project cost of $16 million, the library is well-prepared, with over half of the funds already secured in reserves.
Once completed, the new library will not only serve as a beacon of knowledge but also pave the way for the sale of the current premises, the Rolling Hills Plaza strip mall.
