JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri deer hunters have once again rallied to support their communities through the Share the Harvest program.
This past deer season, their donations totaled an impressive 247,575 pounds of venison, including 5,394 whole deer.
Managed jointly by the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Conservation Federation of Missouri, Share the Harvest channels the efforts of hunters, meat processors, and sponsors to provide food to those in need.
The donated deer meat is processed by participating facilities statewide and distributed to local food banks and pantries, ensuring that hungry Missourians across the state receive nutritious meals.
Since its inception in 1992, Share the Harvest has supplied approximately 5 million pounds of venison to alleviate hunger in Missouri.
