Authorities: Human remains found in rural Mercer County

MERCER COUNTY, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has announced that it's investigating the discovery of human remains in northeast Mercer County.

The Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control was called upon by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office to aid in the investigation, shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

The remains, which have not been identified, were found by a turkey hunter on private property.

The Division of Drug and Crime Control of the Highway Patrol, in collaboration with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, is currently conducting the ongoing investigation. No further details have been released.
