Falls City to unveil major urban development project

construction plans

FALLS CITY, Neb. - In Falls City, a major urban development project is underway, with an estimated cost of $535,000.

The project is funded primarily by a $435,000 Community Development Block Grant from the State of Nebraska's Department of Economic Development, which includes allocations for general administration and construction management.

The remaining $100,000 will come from the city's general fund and contributions from selected local businesses.

The project aims to enhance public infrastructure, including significant sidewalk improvements across five blocks of Stone Street.

Additionally, $165,000 is earmarked for commercial rehabilitation to assist at least six private businesses in the downtown area.

These businesses will receive funds covering 75% of eligible façade improvements and code violation corrections, with the businesses providing the remaining 25%.

Falls City will provide detailed information about eligibility, the application process, and funding at a kick-off meeting May 21 at 6 p.m. at 2307 Barada Street.

Application materials will be available afterward both in person and on the city’s website, fallscitynebraska.org.
