DES MOINES, Iowa - All Iowans will be able to enjoy fishing next month. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says free fishing weekend is happening on June 7, 8 and 9.

All other regulations remain in place. Iowa offers hundreds of lakes, thousands of miles of rivers, and numerous neighborhood ponds for outdoor fun.

To find stocked lakes and accessible fishing spots, visit the Iowa DNR’s interactive Iowa Community Fisheries Atlas at iowadnr.gov.

The DNR website also lists free fishing events across Iowa to help families new to fishing get started.

For those who want to continue fishing all summer, the DNR offers various fishing licenses through the Go Outdoors Iowa online system.

Licenses can be purchased and stored on the Go Outdoors Iowa mobile app for iPhone and Android devices.
