JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is proposing a modest increase in permit prices for 2025.

With over a million anglers, half a million hunters, and several thousand trappers, the MDC issues nearly 2.6 million permits annually.

Due to rising costs in conservation efforts, the MDC is adjusting prices for non-resident permits and some resident permits.

The Missouri Conservation Commission has given initial approval to these adjustments, which will help cover costs for habitat management, fuel, equipment, and infrastructure improvements.

Proposed changes include slight increases for non-resident fishing and hunting permits, as well as for migratory bird hunting and trout fishing for both residents and non-residents.

Public comments on these proposals will be accepted from July 2 to August 1. Permit sales make up 16% of MDC’s annual revenue, with the rest coming from the Conservation Sales Tax and federal reimbursements.

The final decision on the price adjustments will be made in September, with changes effective January 1, 2025.
