MARYVILLE, Mo. - Maryville police are investigating after the body of a newborn infant was found at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park.
Officials state the body of the newborn was found by an employee just before 11 a.m. Saturday in a remote area of the park. The employee found the remains while performing routine maintenance in a remote area of the park.
The newborn appeared to have been in the remote area for half a day at the most. The body is undergoing an autopsy at Frontier Forensics, but information from that autopsy could take between six and 12 weeks.
In the meantime, police would like to receive a preliminary report before autopsy results are in. No other information has been released because the case is ongoing.
