RED OAK, Iowa - A Red Oak man is in custody after an incident unfolded earlier this week. According to the Red Oak Police Department, 31-year-old Matthew Russell Archer was apprehended shortly before 6:45 p.m. Monday.

He faces multiple charges, including three counts of assault while participating in a felony, two counts of 2nd degree robbery, and one count of 4th degree criminal mischief.

The arrest stemmed from a series of alarming events that occurred in the 300 block of Coolbaugh Street.

Reports indicated a male, later identified as Archer, was aggressively punching vehicles and attempting to gain entry into them. Police responded swiftly to the scene.

Upon investigation, authorities allege that Archer approached multiple victims, issuing threats and attempting to steal their vehicles.

When confronted by the last victim, Archer purportedly resorted to physical violence, punching the vehicle before eventually departing the area.

Archer was subsequently taken into custody and is currently being held at Montgomery County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
