JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation reminds hunters and anglers that squirrel and black bass seasons open tomorrow.
For squirrels, the hunting season for eastern gray and fox squirrels runs from through February 15, 2025. Hunters can use shotguns, rifles, archery equipment, slingshots, atlatls, and cage-style traps.
Traps must be labeled with the hunter’s information, attended daily, and have an opening of 144 square inches or smaller. The daily limit is ten squirrels, with a possession limit of 20.
A valid Small Game Hunting permit is required. Black bass season also opens tomorrow, running through February 28, 2025.
Anglers can catch and keep largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted/Kentucky bass statewide, though certain streams south of the Missouri River have closed seasons.
The daily limit in most state waters is six black bass, with a minimum length of 12 inches for those taken from rivers and streams. A valid fishing permit is required.
