Cook Road Bridge over I-29 work starts Monday

Bridge Closed

The rehabilitation of the Cook Road Bridge over I-29 in Saint Joseph is set to begin soon.

Clarkson Construction Company, in collaboration with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will close the roadway from 38th Street to just east of the bridge at the driveway entrance to Renovations Church next Monday. Access to Chris Hessler Road will also be closed, requiring motorists to find alternate routes. The project will involve widening the bridge, replacing its driving surface, and adding a pedestrian sidewalk with decorative fencing on the south side. The work is expected to be completed by October.

During construction, there will be three periods when I-29 will be closed in both directions for bridge demolition, girder placement, and painting, with detours on I-2-29. Overnight lane closures on I-29 may also occur between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., with a 12-foot width restriction in place. For more details, visit MoDOT's project page.
