DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa State Park Passport is back for 2024, featuring over 60 state parks and forests.

Visitors can download the Passport onto their mobile devices to earn points toward prizes and giveaways, making it a fun way to explore Iowa’s parks.

Now in its fifth year through a partnership with Travel Iowa, the Passport allows families to discover new parks and track their outdoor adventures.

From now until October 31, Passport holders can earn points by checking into parks using the app. Each park has a different point value, with remote "hidden gem" parks offering higher points.

Points can be redeemed for prizes like camping discounts, unique stickers by Iowa artist Naomi Friend, and state park t-shirts.

Additionally, each check-in enters passholders into a sweepstakes for a three-night stay at Backbone State Park. For more information and to sign up, visit iowadnr.gov/stateparks.
