MO DCI promotes National Safety Month

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - This month, the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance joins the National Safety Council in promoting National Safety Month.

Accidents are the third leading cause of death in the U.S., with 63 million people seeking medical attention for injuries in 2022.

DCI Director Chlora Lindley-Myers urges Missourians to stay vigilant and eliminate hazards in daily activities to prevent injuries.

Throughout National Safety Month,officials emphasize the importance of several key safety topics to prevent accidents and injuries.

With a record number of motorcycle deaths in Missouri in 2023 and the summer peak for highway work zones, drivers must stay attentive, buckle up, avoid distractions, reduce speed, and drive sober.

Identifying and assessing risks while implementing measures to reduce them is vital, and the Missouri Department of Labor offers free safety consultations for small employers to help determine effective safety solutions.
