NW employee talks about horrifying incident with tornado
MARYVILLE, Mo. - A familiar name on the Northwest Missouri State University campus experienced a terrifying ordeal.
Over Memorial Day weekend, Kristen Peltz, the director of counseling services at the Wellness Center on campus, was caught in an EF-3 tornado in Valley View, Texas.
Peltz and her partner received a tornado warning alert on their phones around 10 p.m. while driving through the area.
They quickly pulled over to a nearby gas station for shelter, joining about 40 others, before the twister blew the roof off.
They waited for several hours until a bus arrived to transport them to a nearby church, where the Red Cross provided essentials.
