ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A Robidoux Middle School math teacher accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student has been fired by the St. Joseph School Board.

Everett "Tim" Harding of Maryville faces a first-degree sodomy charge filed by the Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney’s office. The St. Joseph Board of Education terminated Harding's contract during its meeting this week.

In a statement, the district said, "Upon hearing concerns, the District placed the former employee on leave, thoroughly investigated, and coordinated with law enforcement in their investigations. The District will continue cooperating with those agencies."

A probable cause statement alleges Harding was alone in his classroom for nearly an hour with the student, who he allegedly assaulted.

Other staff members had reportedly witnessed and reported inappropriate behavior leading up to the incident.
