July 29, 2024A crisis insecticide exemption placed in MO | By: Libby Ehlers
Missouri Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn placed a crisis exemption on an insecticide in southeast Missouri.
Chinn declared an exemption on the use of Intrepid 2F insecticide to control armyworm population in Missouri rice. With an estimated rise in armyworms across 60,000 acres of farmland associated with winds from Hurricane Beryl, the exemption applies to the following Missouri counties: Bulter, Stoddard, Pemiscot, Dunklin, New Madrid, Mississippi, Ripley, Bollinger, Scott, Cape Girardeau, and Perry.
The exemption is set to remain in affect until September 30th with proper application of four to eight fluid ounces per acre depending on the level on infestation. Applicators must have the Intrepid 2F Emergency Exemption label in their possession at the time of use. To contact the MDA's Plant Industry team, call 573-751-5504.
