ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - St. Joseph's Downtown Public Library building is set to enter a new chapter by also becoming home to the Downtown Health Center and some administrative offices of Northwest Health Services.

The building at Tenth and Felix Streets will continue to serve as the Downtown Library while expanding its community role. The St. Joseph School District offices vacated the building in 2022, leaving a large portion empty.

Northwest Health Services saw an opportunity to use the space for its homeless services and to replace its current clinic on Sixth Street.

The new Downtown Health Center will occupy much of the accessible basement level, previously used for office space and storage.

This collaboration aims to preserve the historic building while continuing to serve the St. Joseph community, ensuring the library and health center can operate synergistically for years to come.
