MARYVILLE, Mo. - Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County has announced its partnership with Jill Calfee to build a new home in Maryville this year.
Calfee is a certified medical technician and nurse assistant at Parkdale Manor Care Center, a single mother of two, and currently lives in a mobile home in Maryville.
By meeting Habitat’s employment and financial requirements, Calfee will be able to purchase the new home with a zero-interest mortgage.
This makes her the 15th partner family for Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County since its first home was built in 2004. Notably, Calfee's brother, Jeremy Calfee, was the beneficiary of the organization’s first home in Hopkins.
Habitat board members presented her with a bouquet and balloons during the recent surprise announcement.
The new home, to be built at 123 South Mulberry Street, will be approximately 1,340 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Habitat for Humanity has partnered with the Northwest Technical School’s building trades program since 2020 for home construction, involving both partner families and volunteers in "sweat equity" hours.
