DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has launched a new online tool for hunters and landowners to report deer deaths caused by hemorrhagic disease, known as EHD or Blue-tongue.
This disease, which has impacted Iowa's deer for over a decade, causes deer deaths typically between July and September, often near water sources.
The new tool, available on the DNR's Deer Hunting and Deer Health Webpage, aims to improve the accuracy of reports and help the DNR manage deer populations.
While some areas recover quickly, others with declining populations may require additional management to aid recovery. For more information, visit iowadnr.gov/deer.
