One of the best states for elder-abuse protections, and one of the worst, is in our listening area.

Wallet-Hub found that Iowa had the eighth best elder-abuse protections in the nation, while Nebraska had the 10th worst. Missouri and Kansas ranked in the middle of the study.

Wallet-Hub looked at several factors, including the number of complaints, how much each state spends on prevention, nursing home quality, the number of eldercare organizations and services, and other key metrics. The state with the best elder-abuse protections was Wisconsin, while the worst was California.
