Missouri Grown program offering school food reimbursement

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Grown program is offering up to $1,000 in reimbursement to school food services and Early Childcare Education Centers for purchasing specialty crops from local farmers.

This initiative aims to boost the consumption and knowledge of specialty crops among children and adults in educational settings.

Participating schools and ECEs must conduct at least one educational activity about specialty crop production, ideally involving the farmer either in-person or virtually.

The crops can be used for taste testing, educational activities, or included in school meals or snacks. The program also seeks to foster relationships between schools-ECEs and Missouri farmers.

Each school district and ECE can receive the reimbursement up to four times, once per semester, with funds available on a first-come, first-served basis until depleted. For more information, visit the Missouri Grown program's website.
