OREGON, Mo. - The Holt County Sheriff's Office says a nearly 39-year-cold case has been solved.

Holt County Sheriff Steve Portman announced in a press release that Kirby G. David has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Peggy J Horseman's death on Sept. 27, 1985.

Horseman was working as a night store clerk at King Oil Station in Mound City and was found shot to death at the scene, and no leads were successful until recently.

David, already incarcerated for an unrelated crime, was identified as a suspect through new evidence. He has not yet appeared in court for the Horseman case.
