Soles 4 Christ seeking more donations for annual drive

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Soles 4 Christ is asking for more donations for their annual shoe giveaway. This program has provided over 17,000 pairs of shoes to local schoolchildren since 2003.

The goal of Soles for Christ is to boost children's self-esteem and enthusiasm for the school year by giving them a new pair of shoes.

The 2024 distribution will happen at the Scottish Rite on Monday, Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The event serves school children from preschool to 12th grade in Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton, and DeKalb counties in Missouri, and Doniphan County in Kansas.

Parents or guardians must bring their children to the distribution events and provide proof of residency and the child’s age. Pre-registration is not required.

Soles 4 Christ is accepting donations of new tennis shoes, which must have rubber soles and cover the foot. Donations can be made at the AFL-CIO office. The goal for 2024 is 1,500 pairs of shoes.
