ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The United Way is calling for volunteers and donors to help with their annual Stuff the Bus! School Supplies Drive. The annual event will be on August 2-3, at North Belt and South Belt Walmart locations.
Volunteers will collect new school supplies, which will be distributed through United Way Partner Agencies and Programs, including The Salvation Army.
Donors are encouraged to purchase and donate items such as binders, backpacks, markers, crayons, scissors, and construction paper.
Since 2009, the drive has collected and distributed over 281,000 school supplies to local children, classrooms, and programs. The collected supplies will be distributed to families by The Salvation Army on Thursday, August 8.
For more information, families in need can contact The Salvation Army at 816-232-5824. Supplies will also be provided to schools and other programs through United Way.
Last year, over 750 students from more than 30 schools received backpacks filled with supplies to help them succeed in the classroom.
