ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A St. Joseph woman is facing involuntary manslaughter charges following a wrong-way crash in May that killed a motorcyclist.

Police say 47-year-old Katherine Deweese drove past two “Do Not Enter” signs on the I-229 exit ramp at 3rd and Edmond on May 17, colliding with motorcyclist 33-year-old Ryan Coffman.

Coffman was thrown from his bike and later died at the hospital. Deweese told police she was distracted while arguing with a passenger at the time.

Although her breath test showed a blood alcohol level below the legal limit, she now faces serious charges in connection with the crash.
