Iowa DNR now taking orders for seedlings

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) State Forest Nursery is now taking orders for fall 2024 and spring 2025 seedlings.

Starting Sept. 3 through May 30, 2025, landowners can choose from 23 species of native hardwoods, eight evergreen types, and 15 smaller trees and shrubs.

Seedlings vary on priced, but come in bundles of 25 and are available for both fall and spring delivery, with evergreens limited to spring.

Customers can pick up orders at the nursery in Ames or opt for delivery. The nursery, which sells around one million seedlings each year, has been in operation since the 1930s.
