MU Extension Clinic offering free oak tree disease testing

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri Extension's Plant Diagnostic Clinic, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation, is offering free testing for common oak tree diseases throughout 2024.

The clinic aims to collect data on oak diseases across the state while scouting for new or invasive threats.

Two significant diseases being monitored are oak wilt, which can kill red oaks within weeks, and bacterial leaf scorch, which leads to tree death over several years.

Oak owners are encouraged to submit photos or samples if they suspect these diseases. For testing details and sample submission guidelines, visit the Plant Diagnostic Clinic’s website at muext.us/plantclinic.
