Trenton city council addresses police officer shortage

TRENTON, Mo. - At its latest meeting, the Trenton City Council addressed the issue of declining police officer numbers, both nationally and in Trenton.

City Administrator Ron Urton noted that while the situation is challenging, some departments have started covering training costs and even paying officers during their training, something that the city council is interested in.

Currently, the city is operating with three fewer police officers than needed.
