JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Small and diverse food and farm businesses in Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas can now apply for more than $3.7 million in Business Builder grants.
The first round of funding, supported by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Heartland Regional Food Business Center, opened earlier this month.
Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000 and can be used for projects focused on business expansion, job creation, and boosting local food markets. Applications are due by Oct. 15.
Eligible applicants include small food and farm businesses and nonprofits, such as farmers markets, with fewer than 50 employees and under $3 million in annual revenue.
The University of Missouri (MU) Extension Office emphasized the grants will help producers build income streams and enter new markets.
Missouri applicants can receive one-on-one grant assistance through MU Extension. For more information, including how to apply, visit heartlandfoodbusiness.org.
