AKS manufacturing facility to close next year

CLARINDA, Iowa - NSK Americas has announced it will close its AKS manufacturing facility in Clarinda by the end of the first quarter of 2025.

The plant, which employs around 54 workers, produces ball bearing components for the automotive and industrial markets.

However, company officials say many of the markets they serve have moved offshore, reducing the demand for domestically-produced products.

AKS officials expressed gratitude for the loyalty of their Clarinda team and community support, promising to assist employees during the transition.

While the AKS plant is closing, NSK’s larger facility on the same campus in Clarinda will remain open.
