IA man pleads guilty to armed robbery of Princeton bank

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 67-year-old Iowa man has pleaded guilty to robbing a Princeton bank at gunpoint in last year.

Phillip Michael Blink admitted to committing the armed robbery at First Interstate Bank on May 19th, 2023, where he entered wearing a cowboy hat, red bandana, gloves, and a trench coat.

Blink placed a Ruger 9mm handgun on the counter, pointed it at the teller, and said, “I’m sorry, but this is going to be a bad morning.” Blink stole a little over 4,000 dollars and fled north on Highway 65 in a pickup truck.

He was later arrested by a Knoxville, Iowa, police officer, and confessed to the robbery. The gun and clothing used in the crime were found in his vehicle.

Blink has pleaded guilty to armed bank robbery and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. He faces up to 25 years in federal prison, with sentencing to be determined after a presentence investigation.
