ambulance emergency

HOPKINS, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 46-year-old Iowa man is in serious condition after a single vehicle crash in Nodaway County.

The Patrol says Joe Hamilton of New Market was driving a 2008 Chevy HHR on Route JJ, six miles west of Hopkins.

At 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, the SUV travelled off the road, struck a fence, then struck an embankment and went airborne before slamming into the ground and overturning multiple times.

Hamilton, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Mercy 1 Hospital in Des Moines by Mercy 1 Life Flight with serious injuries.
