IA woman faces charges after violent incident

FARRAGUT, Iowa - A 47-year-old woman faces multiple charges following a violent incident in Iowa.

According to the Fremont County Sheriff's Office, Sylvia Marie Hayes was arrested Sunday in Farragut on charges including attempted murder, willful injury causing serious injury, going armed with intent, and second-degree domestic abuse.

Authorities responded to a call around 3 p.m. from the 1000 block of Essex Avenue, where the victim reported being assaulted with a baseball bat.

The victim was transported to Shenandoah Medical Center with serious injuries. Hayes is being held in the Fremont County Jail without bond, awaiting an initial court appearance.
