JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released statistics for the 2024 Labor Day holiday weekend, reporting seven traffic fatalities, two boating fatalities, and one drowning.

The enforcement period ran from 6 p.m. last Friday, through 11:59 p.m. this past Monday. Troopers worked 233 traffic crashes, resulting in 115 injuries and seven deaths.

They also made 108 DWI arrests. On the water, there were three boating crashes, eight injuries, and two fatalities. One person drowned on Aug. 31 at Golden Eagle Lake in Montgomery County.

The boating fatalities occurred on September 1st when a vessel struck a rock bluff on the Gasconade River, killing 30-year-old Reven Newbound and a seven-year-old child. Both victims were not wearing life jackets.

The Patrol reminds the public to practice safe driving and boating, especially during holiday weekends.
