MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Maryville R-II School District is assuring parents that they are monitoring an increase in social media threats against schools across the state.
Although Maryville has not been directly mentioned, Superintendent Dr. Logan Lightfoot says the district is working closely with law enforcement and has security measures in place to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The district encourages families to talk to their children about the seriousness of making threats and to report any suspicious activity.
They ask the public to take screenshots of any threats rather than sharing them, as this helps with investigations. Parents with concerns are encouraged to contact the district directly to stop the spread of rumors.
