Runners will be gathering in St. Joseph next week

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The second annual St. Joseph Marathon is just over a week away, attracting runners from across the country.

The St. Joseph Sports Commission says registration is up 25% from last year, with over 530 participants from more than 30 states, including California, Florida, and Washington.

Officials expect over 700 runners by race day, with some participants returning to St. Joseph for the first time in decades. In addition to participants, volunteers are still needed to help with the event.

The marathon takes place Saturday, September 28, featuring a full and half marathon, relay, and 5K. You can sign up to run or volunteer at stjomosports.com.
