JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has officially proclaimed September as Rice Month in Missouri, honoring the state's rice producers.

Missouri ranks fourth in the nation for rice production, with around 200,000 acres of rice grown, primarily in the Bootheel region.

This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the Missouri Rice Research and Merchandising Council, which has been promoting superior farming practices and farm conservation efforts since its founding in 1984.

Council member Daniel Eddy emphasized Missouri rice as a global commodity, celebrating the Council’s dedication to research and marketing opportunities. For more information, visit missouririce.com.
