KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 45-year-old Stanberry man has been sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison for a firearm violation after threatening law enforcement officers.

Federal prosecutors in Kansas City say Erin Graves was sentenced this week by Judge Howard Sachs for illegally possessing a sawed-off shotgun, which he referred to as his “cop killer.”

During his arrest, Graves threatened to kill officers, stating he would splatter their heads if he had ammunition. He also made threats against jail staff and his parole officer.

Graves, who was on parole at the time, has a lengthy criminal record with multiple felony convictions, including stealing, burglary, and resisting arrest.
