DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Business Council (IBC) has released its third-quarter Economic Outlook Survey for 2024, projecting a positive six-month economic outlook with an overall index score of 56.67.
This is an increase of 1.41 points from the previous quarter, though it's down from the historical average.
Key findings include sales expectations rising to 60 points, capital spending expectations increasing and employment expectations slightly declining.
IBC President Phil Jasper highlighted a rebound in capital expenditures, with Iowa's business leaders focusing on investments in equipment and technology despite challenges in the national economy.
Concerns about the domestic economy were cited by 50% of respondents, while workforce retention and federal regulations were also major issues.
