DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa’s Department of Natural Resources is reminding residents that while fall is usually a great time to plant trees, this year’s drought conditions make it essential to regularly water newly planted trees through the 2025 growing season.
Shade trees not only beautify properties but also help reduce heating and cooling costs, improve air quality, and provide shelter.
Officials with the DNR emphasize that planting trees properly and providing long-term care such as watering, mulching, and pruning are key to ensuring healthy, long-lasting trees.
