JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows hunters killed 5,741 deer during the firearms early antlerless portion of deer season, held from October 11-13.

The top counties for deer harvest were Franklin with 156, Howell with 140, and Bollinger with 135.

This year's total is significantly lower than last year's total of 16,553, which the MDC attributes to the warmer temperatures that kept many hunters out of the woods.

Missouri's deer hunting season continues with archery and several firearms portions in the coming weeks. More details on deer hunting can be found in MDC’s 2024 Fall Deer & Turkey Regulations booklet or at mdc.mo.gov.
