COLUMBUS, Neb. - As farmers head to the fields for harvest, the Nebraska Public Power District is urging equipment operators to prioritize safety around power lines.

Large machinery can cause dangerous electrical arcs if it gets too close to power lines, potentially leading to equipment damage or fatal injuries.

In a press release, NPPD Vice President Scott Walz reminds farmers to check their surroundings before starting work and to stay inside their vehicle if it comes into contact with a power line.

If forced to exit, jump clear and shuffle away. For more safety tips, visit nppd.com.
